Frequently Asked Questions

Children's Portraits
Q. I have never had my child photographed before. How do I go about it?

A. Often a new experience for a child causes them to act shy and withdrawn. Arrive a little early so they can play and adjust to the studio and me.

Q. At what age do you recommend getting a child's portrait created?

A. Children make wonderful portraits at any age. Babies can be photographed at any time. Six months is a special age. It is then that they can grab their feet and sit up by themselves. Many people like to have their child photographed around their birthday every year. Four and five year olds are other great ages. They have developed into their personalities, have a longer attention span and they are still adorable. People often celebrate First Communion, Bar or Bat Mitzvahs, Graduation. "Any time" is the right time in a child's life for a memorable portrait.

Q. What clothing do you recommend for my child's portrait?

A. The clothing should be simple and flattering to the child. We recommend solids rather than patterns and strips. Depending on the style of the portrait and background setting, we will suggest some colors that will create a wonderful portrait.

Q. How long will the session take?

A. We allow an hour for the session and find that it varies as to the child's responsiveness. As parents we are looking for that great smile that depicts the child. We work in a session until we have good selections to present to you.

Q. What if my child is having a bad, non-smiling day?

A. If we are not getting the expressions that are desired, we have you return another day. Babies can't tell us how they feel, so we simply reschedule the session for another day.

Q. What time of day should I have my child photographed?

A. This usually is in the morning between 9:00am and 11:00am. However, we ask you to decide when your child is at his or her best, and schedule that time.

Q. Do you do first communion pictures?

A. Yes. These are usually done in the studio or at the church. This is a special day for a youngster.

Q. Do you have a customer satisfaction or refund policy?

A. Yes! You will never pay for something you don't like.

Q. Can you retouch a blemish?

A. Yes, all packages include minor retouching to smooth away minor blemishes and imperfections. All portrait orders are also color balanced for the best look.

Q. Do you take outdoor pictures? What if it rains?

A. We're known for our great outdoor portraits. Cloudy days are actually ideal for outdoor portraits. Go ahead and keep your appointment. That way, if it does rain, only the outdoor portion of your session will have to be rescheduled.

Q. Can I bring my own props?

A. Yes, please do. While we have a variety of children's props, very often a toy from home will help your child feel more comfortable.
